Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
Make sure you read and follow the directions, anything else will slow the process and waste both of our time. I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
This can be a tough infection to remove so do not expect fast or easy.
Posting this link so I can look back.
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=32865
From you I need this.
1) Describe symptoms, post any error messages word for word.
2) C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename HJT.exe, call it Jayded84.exe, that will work. Hackers hide their junk from HJT and we may see the infection after a restart.
3) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)
4) Post a new HJT log.
Thanks

Hi
thank you so much for taking the time to help me, I really appreciate it :)
1) symptoms are: I have flashing or no icons as well as the taskbar is flashing too. If I try to open any program not web-based, it will close. I have not gotten any error messages that will show up at least.

We may need combofix for this but we will start with MBAM. If you still have a copy of combofix, delete it. It must be downloaded new each time because it does not update.
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.
Thanks...Phil

Phil, you have a lot of patience to be able to help people through so many types of viruses/infections/adware etc.. I was at the point of smashing the damn thing! But I didn't want to lose my photographs and memories.
I'm guessing there is more to do, but I wanted you to know that hte time spent is truly appreciated.

Hi Jennifer, as you can see MBAM removed a lot of hidden junk including the one item showing in the HJT logm which had to be removed during the reboot process:
c:\windows\system32\awtusski -> Delete on reboot.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtusSkI.dll (Trojan.Vundo.H) -> Delete on reboot.
What we need to know now is was it successful. We also have infected System Restore files to clean. As we decide if we need additional scan, here is what I would like you to do.
1) Update AVG 8 and run system scan, remove what it finds and you will be able to save the file at the end of the scan, post that file for me to view.
2) Update MBAM and run a new scan, if it was successful, nothing will show in the new scan, and I do not need you to post a clean scan, just tell me it was clean.
3) This item: facebook.com is very dangerous, be very careful as you use it:
New worm targets Facebook, MySpace
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10004970-83.html?tag=nl.e703
4) This program: Adobe\Reader 8.0 is out of date and being exploited by hackers to infect you: Adobe Reader 9.0
http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_reader/
It is very important now that organized crime is involved, that all programs be kept up to date.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=infected+websites&btnG=Google+Search
5) Post in a day or two to let me know if all is well and do not allow me to forget to post instructions for cleaning those infected System Restore file.
Thanks...Phil

hi Phil
I had to re in stall AVG8. and when I try to log into hotmail from safari or IE browsers, it says I need to update them.. but before the malware etc was off the computer it worked..so it may be a stupid question, but I would rather be safe than sorry, do I update?
thank you:)
the MBAM came back clean
AVG8 also came back clean
I tried like hell but there is no log it will let me save, it did not find anything though.
as for the links in your post the RBN is damn scary
I didn't even know that such a thing existed! Thank you for broadening my horizons to important information!
This is such an awesome site! I would be beyond lost without it!

hi Phil
it's me again,
although I thought the computer Seemed to be working fine,
it will not let me Sign in to my hotmail account
I can put in my user name and password then it starts to load and at the top there is a blue bar(kinda like the banner at the top of this page, but with No ) words) and it just flashes at me.
so I closed it
as well as with safari browser, every little while, while I am looking at photos, if I click the Next button, it will flash back the the one I was just at.
these computers are so frustrating!
I don't know how you do it my friend
Thank you very much for helping me so far! you are being really kind to me and explaining a whole lot I never knew
you rock!:bigthumb:

It is possible malware has corrupted your sign in credentials and the other browser. These issues are not something I work with and I can only suggest you look here for the hotmail issues:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=troubleshoot+hotmail+sign+in+issues&spell=1
For the browser, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it again, that should fix the problem.
http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
you can also give another browser a try:
