My system is relatively clean as I use AVG antivirus, Windows Defender, Spybot S&D and Spyware blaster. However, dns-look-up.com/passthrough has installed itself. I have deleted it from temp internet files, listed it in Restricted sites but as soon as I log onto Wanadoo, the dns task bar appears. It has also pushed my normal taskbar over to the RHS of my screen and I cannot drag it back down, the dns taskbar seems to have priority.

Is there anything else I can do?

I ran the mcafee virus scan and attach the list it produced.

Download the Hoster from here. Unzip the program to your desktop. Don't use it yet.


enable showing of system and hidden files:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

remember to hide them again, once we're finished to prevent accidental deletions!!

Download KillBox here: KillBox. Unzip it to your desktop.

Start Killbox.exe

Select the Delete on reboot option, then click the button "process all files"

highlight the list of files below, then press CTRL+C to copy them to the clipboard

Then press the button that looks like a red circle with a white X in it.

Reboot into SafeMode by tapping F8 key repeatedly at bootup: Starting your computer in Safe mode

Run HijackThis!, press Do A system Scan Only, and put a check mark next to all these:

Locate Hoster on your desktop, press Restore Original Hosts and press OK. Exit Program. This will restore the Hosts fi

Taskbar has been removed, hijackthis log below. Still cannot move my normal toolbar from the rhs of the screen to the bottom. Thanks for all the help so far, the instructions are good.

Doubleclick it and it will create the file C:\findlop.txt
Find that file and copy the content into your next post.


you seem to have two different antiviruses installed, those appear to be both running which is not recommended. disable ( or uninstall the other ) and keep only one running real time protection

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

I downloaded Killbox.exe but was unable to find any of the 3 files you requested.

Using the browse function I was able to get the following:-

Am I not looking in the correct place or manner. When I did click on a file it automatically went into the Killbox drop down box without me copying/pasting.

sorry for my absence, i was spending the easter with family and relatives (offline)

please do no use the browse button, the files are hidden so you'll no be able to find them

use the copy paste like instructed above
if the files exist, killbox will delete those buggers

after the deletion by killbox post me a fresh hijackthis log
 
Tried the copy and paste but it would only show the first file in the box whether I used ctrl + c or the right click on the mouse (if I copied and pasted to a word document the three files were pasted into the word document). When I clicked the red and white button it went through the steps you describe but did not shutdown after the pendingfilerenameoperations prompt. I shutdown, rebooted than reran hijack this.

Has it worked or am I still doing something wrong?

lets see how it goes, its sometimes incredibly hard to remove

We must turn off Windows Defender so it doesn't interfere with our fix.

To turn Windows Defender on or off
  • To complete these steps, you must be logged on as Administrator or be a member of the Administrators group
  • Open Windows Defender. (Click Start, click Programs, and then click Windows Defender.)
  • Click Tools, and then click General Settings.
  • Under Protection options, select or clear the Use Windows Defender to help protect my computer check box.
  • Then click Save

Disable SpywareGuard:

Right click the running icon of Spywareguard, it will open the program.
Then go to Menu, File, Exit.
Then confirm the program is closed.

next unzip hijackthis to your desktop.
this way you'll get usable back ups to restore if something goes wrong
you seem to be running it from the temp

once hijackthis is properly unzipped ( IMPORTANT )
open it
click do a system scan only

checkmark these:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Support second] C:\DOCUME~1\MRGOOD~1\APPLIC~1\BOLDSE~1\Info Exit.exe



then close all browser and explorer windows. leaving only hijackthis running

and click fix checked

reboot

post a new hijackthis log, and a new findlop.bat result
