View Full Version : TeaTimer abort upon boot - out of resources

I'm seeing Teatimer create a system error every boot. Shortly after the XP message is displayed (for reporting to MSFT), another alert is issued saying Teatimer is reporting an "out of resources" error.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Spybot, but the error persists.

Is this a conflict with other applications or resources?

I'm on XP SP3.

Below is the text file associated with the system failure:

I have been receiving the teatimer error, as well. It began within the past few days.

Just yesterday, I received the error message stating that it ran out of memory while it was fixing/removing some annoying spybots.

Same here, Windows XP SP3 was a recent install by Windows update. I then updated Spybot to the newest version about a week later.

Upon reboot, the kernel32.dll error in teatimer.exe appeared and made my system unstable. The whole computer went fargin nutty, screen freezes, ghosted graphics, mouse cursor disappearing, etc. I finally disabled teatimer, and all those problems went away.

Ran TrojanHunter after all this, and the system came up clean.

The problem seems to be with SP3 and the newest S&D update to me?

I finally disabled teatimer, and all those problems went away.

That says it all.

I had decided a few years ago to run Norton and Spysweeper as continuous anti-viruses and to run Adaware and Spybot once a week to kind of check on them. I loved the product. Then I downloaded the latest Spybot a while back and the TeaTimer problems started. Boy was I pissed knowing it was runing all the time. I didn't know how to disable it so I uninstalled Spybot then re-installed it without TeaTimer and I have been unchecking the TeaTimer updates since. Now everything is back to normal and I can love the product again.

I was surprised when I Googled TeaTimer.exe and found all the angry folks with all the TeaTimer problems. Consumer reviews from different sites are not in love with TeaTimer either and have not been advocating Spybot as aggressively as before TeaTimer. Some even say not to download TeaTimer at all as I ended up doing in a roundabout way.

I think that TeaTimer has given Spybot a bit of a black eye in many minds. Especially those of us who are not really very computer savvy.

Alot has been improved with teatimer. Memory issues and such has been fixed. Also, it has been made to be way more simpler on more users then the previous version were.

says they state they uninstalled and then installed spybot again to fix the problem correct?

But did you try completely removing spybot using the directions found here?

http://www.spybot.info/en/howto/uninstall.html

Most times a complete uninstall and then install will solve the problem when a normal uninstall does not. I hope that helps, if not wait for a team member to assist you. Sorry i could not help any further...
