hi vetboy,

i dont really recognize any malware in the log.

upload in FF and ie8 speed off by 9x chrome ok need help on malware or ?? removal.
have just run spybot and PC tools spyware doctor - did allow a .exe prior to problem. doh :(

dont understand that. can you provide more details.

vetboy

Both Firefox and Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 7 have an upload speed which is 300kbps where the normal is 900 (chrome, and both apps before this issue).

Also, Ping is reported as 999ms where the norm is 65.
Our guess is something is affecting the outgoing network traffic, but chrome seems not to be affected, as it was installed after the issue started.

The slowdown started after I had "allowed" the program "a.exe" to be installed and run in error and did remove it with spybot but the issue persists.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both firefox an IE after the spybot clean but the problem persists.

Looking at active process while running FF and IE show no irregularity but the upload as mentioned above is verrry slow.
because of the slowdown I believed there was still some trojan or ?? affecting my machine.
thank you for your help
Patrick

hi,

ok. thanks for the info. dont recognize any malware in the log.

your upload (and download) speeds can vary alot based on network traffic.

ping requests can also be dropped or held up to prioritize traffic along the way based on heavy usage. not saying its not a malware issue just providing some info. are spybot and spyware doctor coming up clean after a scan?

we can try a online scan for any malware:

ESET online scanner:

http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

uses Internet Explorer only
check "YES" to accept terms
click start button
allow the ActiveX component to install
click the start button. the Scanner will update.
check both "Remove found threats" and "Scan unwanted applications"
click scan
when done you can find the scan log at:C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
please copy/paste that log in next reply.

I have done some further testing and I am able to browse to wikipedia and google and other sites, but I get a "not able to connect error" in IE and Firefox when browsing to any security site such as norton, spybot ...

as for it being a network traffic issue, i can load IE and Firefox, go to speed test.net, and in the same session test with chrome. Consistently, IE and Firefox deliver slow upload and Ping times. Chrome exhibits times consistent with other machines on the same net and what I had before the issue.
this should eliminate net traffic as a cause

hi,

ok good you get it working. your malwarebytes log says;

->No action taken

did you do this part after the scan finished:

When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
