Hi I have win 98 se. When I launch SDMain.exe I get an error "access violation at address 00FFFBA4. Read of address 00FFFBA4." I use the last version of Spybot. When the error occurs i click on ok then spybot will load but in the "File Sets" section i've nothing.

What can i do for fix this error? It's better that i search for an old version of spybot?

Thanks
Gabbo

I installed the 1.4 version again in win 98 adn it works.
The only problem is that TrojansC.sbi modules causes the program doesn't start.

Did you try completely removing spybot and then installing the latest version again when you had spybot 1.6? That might fix the problem you are having.

And when i say completely remove, i mean follow all directions found here: http://www.spybot.info/en/howto/uninstall.html

Let me know if a full uninstall and install of the latest version helps you. If not, we will try ti figure this out. Using an old version of spybot is not good, and because of that, support for older versions will end soon.

I've completely remove the program as told at the link you have posted but it doesn't works. I get the same error when I lounch the program: "Access violation at address 00FFFADC. Read of address 00FFFADC." If I click on ok on the error pop-up Spybot load but with anything in "File Sets".

For me is not a problem I can use Spybot 1.4, and soon I will pass to windows XP, but with Win 98 SE I can confirm, for me, it (1.6) doesn't work.

1.) 64mb or ram or greater is recommended in order for spybot to run properly.

2.) Is your ram healthy?

3.) Try closing all other programs when launching spybot.

4.) Did you ever try safe mode to open it?

Just a couple of questions. :)

My PC has a 256MB RAM

2.) Is your ram healthy?
No I think not

3.) Try closing all other programs when launching spybot.
Done

4.) Did you ever try safe mode to open it?
Ok, I try and I get this error: "Access violation at address 007802C3 in module 'SPYBOTSD.EXE'. Read of address FFFFFFFF

Just a couple of questions. :)
Hope this helps

A memory checker you can download from Microsoft to test your ram.

See here: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

If you can test it, that would be great. There might be a prob with your ram which is producing that error. It happened to me before when i was running windows 98 and my ram was going bad, i got that message all the time.

I tested my ram as you said but I didn't found problems there.

Hallo world! Here I'm again, this time using win XP (with the same PC on another HD). I've to say that the new version of spybot with this OS works great.

See you soon.
