I use Vista HP SP1, Firefox, Avast, CCleaner, Malwarebytes', SuperAntispyware, Spybot, and Webroot Spysweeper. All have been updated before I ran them.

I did a scan with Avast, Malwarebytes', and SuperAntispyware. They didn't find anything. I then did a scan with Spybot, and it found the following:

AdwareAlert: [SBI $4B7BCDE7] Settings (Registry key, nothing done)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DisabledRun

AdwareAlert: [SBI $714BCC83] Settings (Registry key, nothing done)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DisabledUninstall

AdwareAlert: [SBI $5BD92570] Settings (Registry key, nothing done)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DisabledBHO

Under Kind, it says MalwareC. I didn't click on Fix selected problems since I don't know what these are.

Hello,

AdwareAlertt claims to be a antispyware solution which do not detect any kind of malware.
AdwareAlert is the same app as SpywareBOT which is a bad copy of Spybot Search & Destroy.

So it's ok to Fix Selected Problems for the AdawareAlert. And what exactly will the fix do?

Thank you for your time.

cjaye, fixing the entries will eliminate the threat itself. Spybot will attempt to remove the malware's related registry keys and files.
