View Full Version : Browser redirecting malware

I was browsing the new, looking a solution for a Hamachi problem. I accessed a site that seemed to have a thread related to the issue and a popup came, prompting me to install some antiadware solution or something. I immediately closed Firefox via task manager, but something still got to my computer. I scanned with Lavasoftīs Ad-aware, SuperAntispyware and ESET Nod32. I also used HiJackThis to remove some suspicious entries. I even did these all in safe mode.
Anyway, I think I got some of it, but something very annoying still remains. IEXPLORE.EXE starts up by itself even though I donīt use it, and sits there in memory. If I close it, it starts again by itself after a while.

Now, when I try to google for a solution on the computer with the infection, this malware redirects me to other pages. If I try to access sites such as this (including majorgeeks forum), I get an error - Firefox couldnīt connect the page etc. Fortunately I have this laptop.

Anyway, here is my HiJackThis log. Thanks a bunch for any help in advance!

I read a similar thread and used its advice:
