View Full Version : Is RARPassGen a problem?
I ran the application RARPassGen to get a passwaord for an archive and it attempted to access the Internet, however ZA asked me first, which I promptly denied it access. In some brief reading I have done, it appears this might be something malicious, but I'm not sure. I noticed it has a runonce entry to run something from the system32 directory. Nothing has been rebooted at this point, and the PC is physically removed from the network.
Any assistance on this one?

I do not see any malware in the HJT log you posted, are you have any malware problems that you can describe?

Apparently the file attempted to dump it's payload, but I don't think it got too far, as I think Zone Alarm prevented it from going out to Inet and I killed it's running processes before machine was eventually rebooted. No signs of problems, but I ran a Kaspersky scan anyway and it found nothing, other than the original RARPASSGEN.EXE.
I was just concerned that it might have been an attempt similar to the Vitumonde or Zlob infections I've read about here. Some jerk packed it in with a copy of a TV show I missed and downloaded. Not running any P2P's though...
