I have several issues that all started last night with the appearance of AntiVirusXP2008. I *think* I removed it but we still have other issues. I'm not sure if these are related to that, or if we just got several viruses all at once.

I can't download HJT, so no log file.

When everything started, we lost the screensaver & desktop bg. After we removed the AntiVirusXP2008, those reappeared, but we still have other issues.

At the moment, when using Firefox, IE or Opera:
*all search results are being redirected. typing in the url works, somewhat.
*all sites that relate in any way to web/pc help are blocked including any sub-pages (like symantec, pctools, panda, avira, etc.) this includes downloads from those sites.

*using Safari, searches work properly with no redirects and I can go to any site. However, I still can't download anything (no HJT) I'm not sure if I could download from a direct link on a server or from a file sent via email. Perhaps. I haven't tried to download anything that wasn't related to virus or malware issues, so regular downloads might be ok.

We're running Windows XP, SP2. Generally use Firefox, today any browser will do.

Any help would be welcome.

After downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and running the program, it appears the problems are gone. :-) No more redirects or blocked sites, all the searches are running properly. Still running a few more diagnostics to be sure everything is really ok, but basically, I think it really is fixed.

Unless we run into some other issues, this will be my last post.
