View Full Version : Firefox, Vista, and zero immunizations

Hello all.

Already browsed and searched for a answer to this one, no luck.

I'm running Vista (64 bit), along with Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.16.

The issue I'm running into is that SS&D will not immunize anything related to firefox.

Firefox was closed when I attempted to immunize.

During my search, I found several people saying to delete permissions.sqlite and re-create hostperm.1 , along with looking for these files in C:/Documents and Settings/user . Unfortunately, vista doesn't seem to like playing by the good old XP rules, and has no documents and settings folder.
I also note that my firefox directory nor my HDD have either of the above mentioned files.

So any advice on this would be incredibly appreciated.

Cheers.

No,usually you can't get into documents and settings in Vista, plus its hidden.
You could try getting in this way:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Open the folder inside there.
To get there, you might have to show hidden files and folders:

Or,you could update Firefox instead, since you have an older version.

Thanks, I'll look into that when I get home.

As far as upgrading to Firefox 3, I'm trying to avoid that. From my experience with it, it seems to have a lot of issues with .mil sites, which is bad due to the fact that I need to be able to constantly access these sites.

And it doesn't support my favorite theme >.>

Sorry about the delay, 12-20 hour workdays suck D:

Deleting both files didn't do anything, as the permissions file simply got recreated, and nothing was immunized with firefox.

That is a very long workday. No reason to apologize for the delay. :)

Alright,I don't have a hostperm.1 file anymore, but I should recognize Spybots immunization.Could you please open Hostperm.1,it should come up that windows cannot open the file. Please choose Select a program from a list of installed programs, then select notepad.Go to Edit, select all, then rightclick the highlighted text, select Copy, then paste it here.

Right clicking and just going to "open with" is a bit faster ;)

But I think I figured out what the issue was.

A classic case of P.E.B.K.A.C.

I right clicked and went to new > Text document, as opposed to opening notepad, hitting "save as", then going down and changing it from ".txt" to "All files", THEN saving it as hostperm.1 ... I somehow managed to get a "hostperm.1.txt" file.

Nevertheless, thanks very much for the help Zenobia.
