Problems with my computer

Hi there,

I'm new to this, so hopefully I am doing this correctly. Firstly, some background to my problems:

About two weeks ago I got caught in the Antivirus XP 2008. I thought I successfully tackled that problem using the Symantec information given to me, and my computer was "back to normal". Then, a few days ago, Symantec alerted me that they picked up on a few viruses and helped and I took the necessary steps (Trojan.Fakeavalert, Trojan.Blusod, Trojab.KillAV and Backdoor.Tidserv are the ones in my quarantine in the last few weeks.

Then today, on my birthday of all days, I noticed that in firefox, websites would load twice (as in, right after each other. So, at google, I would see the google search box one on top of another) and it took forever to load anything. I checked my IE, and it was doing the same thing and had the same problems. I did a complete symantec scan and an Ad-Aware SE Professional sweep, and nothing came up. I thought the problem was nothing, but as I was doing my emails, random new browser windows would pop up for porn, so I knew something was wrong. I again ran both Symantec and Ad-Aware, and nothing came up.

So, I decided to restart my computer ... and when I did, immediately in the system tray alerted me that my Windows Automatic Updates was disabled. I clicked on the "Turn on Automatic Updates" button and a box that says "We're sorry. The Security Center could not change your Automatic Updates settings. To try changing these settingts yourself, go to System in CP. On the AU tab, select Automatic (rec), and then click OK."

I went to my System area and the button for Automatic is checked on and enabled...so, something is amiss.

I did some research into my problem and found a few articles in regards to the AU being disabled, but nothing seems to work. I have a feeling that there is something "bigger" that has happened to my computer, and any help would be much appreciated. This is the first time something like this has happened to me, and I'm *slightly* (ok, more than that! lol) freaking out about the ramifications etc.

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Make sure you read and follow the directions, anything else will slow the process and waste both of our time. I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
The junk can be tough to remove, so do not expect fast or easy.

If your helper detects the presence of such programs on your computer he/she will ask you to remove them. Help will be withdrawn should you not agree to their removal.
BitComet <<< uninstall all p2p programs.

Remove any old copies of combofix before you proceed.

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.
