View Full Version : Hi. Antispybot and real media, not so real

Hi guys, the wonderful work you people do keeps us tecno freeks like me coming back for more help with infection problems.. Can you help me, I
dont know how I got infected but I keep getting antispybot showing and real media on the spybot check and AVG in the last 5 days. I have a sneekey suspision I may have an other infection Im not awear of. As I had the infection of antispybot 6 weeks ago and got it removed on this forum, suddenly there it was, back again with a buddy I hadnt seen before. But this hasnt shown up with latest AVG scan.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Make sure you read and follow the directions, anything else will slow the process and waste both of our time. I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
The junk can be tough to remove, so do not expect fast or easy.

Mark, I am not seeing anything different in the second log, it's a rouge malware program that usually has a lot of hidden junk with it. You understand what happens when you don't follow the directions.

Posting additional comments or logs before a volunteer responds, can push you back instead of forward, because your thread ends up with a newer date. Also, helpers may think you are already being assisted because of the post count.


1) Please be sure Spybot S&D is up to date and fully immunized.

2) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

3) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

2008-09-26, 08:18 and you would have been notified on that day. Likely this topic would have been archived today/tomorrow. You may want to click Thread Tools at the top to make sure you are subscribed or watch your junk folder in case the filter thinks this is spam.

Having said that, MBAM removed a registry entry and one infected folder which was Rogue.AntiSpywareBot. The HJT log appears clean of malware. Are you having any other malware problems?

Well that would explain why I never realised when my posts were answerd. Thanks for the tip and as you say my computer looks clean. I will turn on my tea-timer again, what fire wall whould you recomend me to buy, if any.? There seems so many out there but most want a yearly hoot of money to subscribe to.

Hi Mark, I'll tell you what, I only suggest freeware products and personally run AVG 8 and free Zone Alarm. AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic is one of the products offered here:
