View Full Version : Virtumonde Disables Spybot S&D In Mid Check

I was running Spybot S&D. It stopped on a virtumonde .dll file in mid check. Dialog window appeared: "... recommended... reboot... and scan again. y, or n."
Y. Result = no change.
N. Result = no change.
Same dialog window reappears.
Spybot stops responding.
Cont-Alt-Delete.. used to end program.
Three separate runs, same results.
Infected pc now off. Using Son's.
For reasons I don't remember, while diddling with this on my pc, from a desktop application window, I disabled the internet connection. I'd read something about infected pc's auto downloading more infection. The connection icon disappeared from the bottom tool bar and I've no idea how to enable internet connectivity when I get back on to work on it!!!
May as well say I'm unfamiliar with much of this sort of thing, but I must look into it as my budget says no repair bill for this one.
Nonetheless, I have a virtumonde varient. When last shut down the infected pc was still fully operational, though possibly slowed.
Hence, my curiosity as to remedy.

Download and install TrendMicro HijackThis (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe)
* Once installed open HijackThis by clicking Start > Programs > HijackThis and click the button labeled
Do a system scan only
* Click the scan button in the lower left hand corner of the interface and HijackThis will quickly scan your system.
* Once the scan is complete the scan button will now read save log. Click this button to save the log file to your PC. Once you select where you would like to save the file it will open in your systems default text editor. Typically this application is Notepad. Post the log here.

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer
Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode
On the left hand side, click on Tools
Then click on the Resident icon in the list
Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
