Just started to pop up again!!

What do you think the problem is?

ken545
2008-10-01, 23:41
Let do this.

Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your desktop.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download.
It must be saved directly to your desktop.

1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
Click on this link (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html) to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
Remember to re enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the net

2. Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.

IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts.
If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

3. Now double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze.

Hi Ken545,

I have download ATF cleaner and ran this programme.

I had problems trying to turn teatimer off following the link (so it doesnt conflict with Combofix) and its not in the system startup tab, so I cant run Combofix until this is turned off correct? I can uncheck the tickbox on the resident tab if this alone does the trick?

I turned on security task manager and it said websites had been added to my hostfiles, if this helps.

Also when I try to turn my computer off it says it cant as iexplorer is running, but when i click end now as prompted, it goes off. Since the pop ups started I have only used mozilla.

Thanks

You can do it this way, it should be disabled as to not interfere with the Combofix scan

Disable the TeaTimer, leave it disabled until we're done or it will prevent fixes from taking

Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
On the left hand side, Click on Tools
Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer.<--You need to do this for it to take effect

Hi,

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O16 - DPF: {D8089245-3211-40F6-819B-9E5E92CD61A2} (FlashXControl Object) - https://mppv2flash3.valueactive.com/Bet365/FlashAX.cab

You need to enable windows to show all files and folders, instructions Here (http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html)

Go to VirusTotal (http://www.virustotal.com/) and submit this file for analysis, just use the browse feature and then Send File, you will get a report back, post the report into this thread for me to see.

C:\WINDOWS\_delis32.ini

Everything else looks fine, how are things running now??

These are my results from virustotal - not sure what this means but I would guess it couldn't complete the scan - should i try again?

The good news is the pop ups seem to have stopped. However when i restarted my computer last (before doing the last requests) I still get iexploerer cant close - end now.

I will restart again now and post another thread to let you know if this is resolved.
Thanks

Everything logged off ok however on restart the sound icon in the system tray failed to appear and spybot took longer than normal to kick only - only about a minute but noticable. I closed down again to restart and got the iexplorer could not close message - even though I didnt even attempt to connect to the internet. On this restart everything loaded ok.

Is my computer infected with something?

Thanks

Hatch,

Look at this closely, which one is giving you the error??
IEXPLORE.EXE
IEXPLORER.EXE

Hi Ken,

Restarted about ten times without any error message - everything was fine. Then connected to the internet using internet explorer, didnt surf just left it idle on google, the window closed ok, but when I restarted after this got this message

IEXPLORE.EXE could not close.

Just a quick question - if you dont mind

My computer has different user accounts but spybot only starts when i log on (administrator access) - can i change it to start up when any account is used?

Thanks

IEXPLORER.EXE <---Virus
IEXPLORE.EXE <---Related to Internet Explorer

We just do Malware removal in this forum but you can post in our other forum for Spybot Search and Destroy and they can answer any questions you have about Spybot
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4

I am not a 100% sure but I have had people have problems with IE after installing SP3, you can also post in one of these forums for windows issues.

Time for some clean up

ATF Cleaner <-- Yours to keep, run it now and then to clean out the clutter.

Malwarebytes <-- Yours to keep also, check for updates and run a scan now and then.

Hijackthis <---Your call, hopefully you won't need it again, if you do you can redownload it

Combofix <---Is not a general cleaning tool, just run it with supervision or you can bork your system

Click START then RUN
Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"

The above procedure will:

Delete the following:
ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
VundoFix backups, if present
The C:\Deckard folder, if present
The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
Reset the clock settings.
Hide file extensions, if required.
Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
Reset System Restore.

Keep in mind if you install some of these programs. Only ONE Anti Virus and only ONE Firewall is recommended, more is overkill and can cause you problems. You can install all the Spyware programs I have listed without any problems. If you install Spyware Blaster, you can still install Spybot Search and Destroy but do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot.

Here are some free programs to install, all free and highly regarded by the fine people in the Malware Removal Community

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy.

Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed. No scan to run, just update about once a week and enable all protection.

Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts, again, no scan to run, just install it and let it do its thing.

IE-Spyad (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,23332-order,1-page,1-c,antispywaretools/description.html)
IE-Spyad places over 6000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 3 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Safe Surfn

Hi ken,

Just instaled
# Spyware Blaster
# Spyware Guard
# IE-Spyad
# Firefox 3

Went to disable teatimer as prompted only to find it was already disabled (on resident tab - not done by me).

Also posted a thread on the link you gave to enable spybot protection for all users. Just finished that thread when I got 2 pop ups.........

The 1st
http://www.sublimemedia.net/sublimemedia/redirect.aspx?referId=10510

All I get is a blankwindow - doesnt open correcly..... then

http://www.50connect.co.uk/travel

Opens with pictures and text - correctly but not wanted.

Whilst writing this had another

http://www.filmon.com/indexOld/

This opened ok - again not wanted..........

Any more advice on how to remove?

Thanks

Lets run an online virus scanner

Please run this free online virus scanner from ESET (http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner)

Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
Click Start
When asked, allow the activex control to install
Click Start
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is ticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
Click Scan
Wait for the scan to finish
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic

Good Morning,

I have just gone over your logs, lets bypass the AV scan for now and do this.

Please Download No Lop (http://www.spywareedge.net/nolop/NoLop.exe) to your desktop

First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
Double click NoLop.exe to run it
Now click the button labeled "Search and Destroy"
<<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
A Message should pop-up from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log after completing the next steps.
--If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx (http://www.boletrice.com/downloads/mscomctl.ocx) to your system32 folder then rerun the program.

Drag Combofix to the trash and grab a fresh copy, don't run it yet

Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop. <-- Important
Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)
Link 3 (http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe)

Open Notepad Go to Start> All Programs> Assessories> Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad )and copy all the text inside the Codebox by highlighting it all and pressing CTRL C on your keyboard, then paste it into Notepad, make sure there is no space before and above File::

Folder::
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\part dead amok eggs

Save this as CFScript to your desktop.

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/CFScriptB-4.gif

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Open Hijackthis
Go to Misc Tools> Open Uninstall Manager.
Click on Save List.
The list will open in Notepad.
Copy and Paste the List into this thread

Hello Hatch,

You had a variant of the Lop infection still present and it looks like its gone.

Messenger Plus! Live & Sponsor (CiD) When you installed this program you also installed the bundled software with it that will give you pop up adds, I suggest you uninstall this program, reinstall it but read through the install and do not install any add ons.

How are things running now??

Hi Ken,

Everything seems ok - had no pop ups. I have removed the messenger programme.

Thank you for your help.

Hatch

That's great :bigthumb: Read through Post # 16 for some clean up and free programs to install to help keep you more secure.

Ken :)
