Hello All, I think i'm really stuck.
Usually I can get through these things pretty self sufficiently and not have to bother people, but for this one I am stumped. I recently took my computer apart and set it aside for a few days as I was constructing a new computer desk. After the desk was set I bought a new LCD screen for the computer and set everything up. To my surprise the internet no longer worked. So I first determined it may have been the integrated network adapter so I installed a new network card in one of the available PCI slots. After more and more tinkering around I still can not get on the internet, and with the help of one of my friends we have determined it is because of something screwy with the DNS settings. The reason for this belief is that I can connect to websites using their IP addresses, for instance google.com will just bring up an error, but google's ip address will load the page just fine. I was looking for anything that said DNS and figured why not do a search, so I searched all the files on the computer for DNS and came across Zlob.DNSChanger 1-6. Based on my knowledge of spyware and what have you I knew Zlob was something bad so I deleted the files I could see, but I still am not able to get on the internet. I have read some forums saying to install this and install that but I can not get on the internet to install these things. Help is appreciated, A lot! Thanks!!!

Download (using other system if needed) and install TrendMicro HijackThis (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe)
* Once installed open HijackThis by clicking Start > Programs > HijackThis and click the button labeled
Do a system scan only
* Click the scan button in the lower left hand corner of the interface and HijackThis will quickly scan your system.
* Once the scan is complete the scan button will now read save log. Click this button to save the log file to your PC. Once you select where you would like to save the file it will open in your systems default text editor. Typically this application is Notepad. Post the log here.

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer
Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode
On the left hand side, click on Tools
Then click on the Resident icon in the list
Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
Restart your computer
You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you
will have to restart your computer during the fix.
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make
sure Run fixit is checked and click Finish. The fix will
begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer;
please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is
normal.
At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.
Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of
the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt
At the end of the fixwareout fix it informed me to double click on an icon by the name of regbak in the fixwareout folder so I did so, it told me to tell you this.

in my first comment I said I double clicked on regbak icon. I forgot my piece of paper I am going from computer to computer. The icon I clicked on was dnsbak.reg and it was in the fixwareout folder on the c:\ drive. It said to do this if there was connectivity issues, and it also said to tell my helper if I do this. Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be available on some systems
Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

I did everything as you said and still no ability to connect to a web-site unless I know the ip address. typing www.google.com does not work but typing http://72.14.207.99/ works just wonderfully. sigh.

Im not so sure I know how to do that. but yes, i do get my connection through the router.

Manual should give instructions for that. What model is your router?
My router is a D-Link DI-524 wireless router. I don't have the manual, but I did do some extensive research on how to reset the router and try logging into it which is what i am in the process of doing now.
I have reset the router and gotten into the routers control panel by logging into it. After looking around I found the DNS addresses that are in there now are 0.0.0.0 for primary and secondary.

Those DNS addresses should be adjusted to correspond your service provider's DNS addresses. If those are not correctly set you won't be able to access web sites with domain names.
I opened up a live tech support chat application with my internet service provider and they told me to take the cable that runs from the cable modem to the router and plug that directly into a computer and go to the command prompt and type in ipconfig /all and see what the dns server addresses were. I did this and these are the addresses i came up with 24.92.226.40 and 24.92.226.41 as the secondary. I have set these in with the routers WAN settings and the computer still will not go online using domain names.
