rb temp files and UiPopUphidden

[uklostie]

I keep getting rb codes in my recycle bin, I delete them but several minutes later there are more of them. Also, when I shut down my comp I get an End programme now window for UiPopUphidden...

I've run Hijackthis and here's the log...lil help please, oh and I'm not all that bright about technical terminology. Thanks in advance.;)

Okay. The rb codes keep appearing in my recycle bin...I will be on the internet just general browsing and I hear a pop noise, and sure enough a code is in my recycle bin..I delete approx 10-15 a day. They are mostly RB3.tmp and RB4.tmp...but I get some with letters after the number RB3D.tmp is the latest one. I've done a registry fix and virus scans, spyware scans etc...but its still doing it. Plus, since its been doing this my comp is running so slow on the internet.

thanks for the info. those files in the bit bin are also from some software you have installed. at least a search with scroogle suggest that.


this is part of what I wrote for someone else concerned by the same rb files appearing [rb for recycle bin..]:
Some of the smaller Antivirus service providers use common software "engines", rebadging commercial software, if you like. An antispyware example is your CA [computer associates] service, which is eTrust PestPatrol.
Internet service providers like to provide an in-house AV service, mostly they are rebadged commercial versions. One they provide is Command AV, which is the same as Authentium AV.
Authentium\AntiVirus\dvpapi.exe is also part of Freedom AV, amongst others. They will pop rbn.tmp files in your Recycle Bin [n is a digit]... is that where your rb.tmp files appear?
PCGuard will do it, also. Lots of ISPs offer that.
If those files pop in your RB as I surmise, then ignore them.
I think I have all that straight up.

you dont have to use your isp security suite, its free but there are also other free choices.

I removed all my PCguard components and downloaded AVG...6 hours in and I am rb.tmp code free...so fingers crossed this has fixed it.

ok good.what was included in the PCguard suite from your isp.? AVG will cover the antivirus. Looks like it included a firewall also. do you plan to get another firewall? please post another hjt log since you did some uninstalls.

I donloaded AVG 8.0, and it does say that the firewall is active and anti-spyware is active.

My Top Ten List
The Short Version:

1) Keep your OS, (Windows) browser (IE, FireFox) and other software up to date.
2) Know what you are installing to your computer. Alot of software can come bundled with unwanted add-ons. Do you trust the source?
3) Install and keep them all updated: one antivirus and two or three anti-malware applications.
4) Refrain from clicking on links or installing files you receive via E-Mail, IM, Chat Rooms or Social Sites, no matter how tempting or legitimate the message.
5) Don't click on ads/pop ups or offers from websites to install software to your computer.
6) Don't click on offers to "scan" your computer.
7) Set up and use limited accounts rather than administrator accounts.
8) Install and understand the limitations of a third party software firewall.
9) Consider using an alternate browser and E-mail client.
10) If your habits include visiting or downloading/installing files from: warez, crack sites or p2p (file sharing) networks: then you are much more likely to encounter malicious code. Do you trust the source?
