View Full Version : Computer soooooo slow to start.

My computer is so very slow to start. The other day it took 15 minutes from pressing the 'on' button and then the google page coming up. This did include AVG scan coming on.
I do a spybot scan most days, and an AVG scan every day and nothing has shown up.
I've pasted the HJT log. I do hope you can help.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 1150, and around 5 years old. It has 37.2GB capacity with 17.46GB free space (46%). Thank you:red:

Can't see any malware there but got some suggestions/recommendations:

1) Uninstall old Adobe Reader and get the latest one here (http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_reader/) or get Foxit Reader here (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader_2/down_reader.htm).

2) Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

Under Main choose:
Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Cookies
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache
*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

If you use Opera:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

3) Defrag your hard drive.
