Hi:
This is on my little Parapalegic buddy's machine, he sells motorcycle parts on a watts line for a major distributor and uses his PC to communicate with the home office. His hard drive corrupted Windows and he had it replaced. Whoever replaced it did not re-do his anti-virus and Ad-Watch thingie.

By the time he called me, he had 87 things --- Look2Me, NewDotnet, CoolWebSearch and a bunch of other doozies. I got this, far I think, hopefully I haven't damaged anything.

I have the FindQool thing you suggested in my pocket and will be going to his house about 7p cdst ---- Will post shortly thereafter.

Thanks

It is the selfless efforts of those like yourself that makes the internet such a
wonderful, exciting thing. Perhaps your efforts are on a special plane since they are directed at the very things that are mucking it up.

Made a PayPal to the org, my buddy will too when we get him back on-line.

HI:

Did the hosts file thing that you suggested.

Noticed some references to "locking" it.

Can it be corrupted or changed by any kind of "malware"

Should I lock it?

Tried to find the answers myself, without any luck.

Thanks

I use SpyBots tools to lock the Hosts file.
Unfortunatly the most recent malware/spyware can still edit the hosts file
There is no way to truly lock the hosts file that i know of.

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.

If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.
