like everyone else, it seems, my computer has an STD. Spybot fixes it, it returns, you know the drill. i was going to reply to one of the other threads, but i thought it would get too confusing to have multiple computer's logs in one thread, keeping up with who is who and whatnot.

FYI this is not my home computer, it is the computer at my office. and yes, i know... i should be working instead of *bleeping* off on the computer... but it's whatever, ya know? Please help me if ya can. I cannot run Windows update by the way, because i cannot activate and start automatic updates on this computer. here is my hijack this log file, thanks in advance for any help:

i'm not an employee, i'm a partner. this is a very small office - we're attorney's. we have no IT department, we pay for IT. Was hoping i could get rid of this crap myself - but thanks anyway, nonetheless.

Since you have made that clear, I will do what I can do help. Please be aware, I have never owned Windows 2000 and can only promise to do my best.

1) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

2) A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Remove any old copies of combofix before you proceed.

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the combofix log and a new HJT log.
