Hi, this is my first time using this software.

I'm a newbie when it comes to this kind of stuff and I am panicking due to the malware infestation. Let me explain what happen.

I've never encountered a malware or whatever else similar but today, right after I tried to update AVG, Windows Security Alert suddenly popped up and show a few messages every few minutes. It warned me of risks such as Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bankfraud.dq, GreenScreen something, and another thingy which I forgot. It also includes the description of the risk. GreenScreen(I might have mispelled it) is something that captures the screen and store it as data files and sends it to someone else without consent.

The security alert does not allow me to block these. Instead, it links me to a site to download the software to fight against these stuff. And it is not free. So I did not download it. Not even the demo.

I tried to check my task manager but to my surprise, it said administrator disabled it. Ctrl+Alt+Dlt did not work, so as right clicking the taskbar. So I tried to google out "enable task manager". WHen I clicked the first link found, instead of bringing me to the correct webpage, it instantly redirected me to some other random webpages. I can't scroll back. So I copied the url from the search, open an empty tab, and copied the url there. Only then it worked.

I solved the task manager problem. i launched it and to my surprise, it showed lots of processes going on. Usually almost all of the process takes up a few hundred K of memory but now, even the common ones(which I know is not a malware) showed high readings(a few thousand K). My comp became very slow.

I instantly installed spybot SD and kaspersky internet security suite(trial version). Kaspersky took too long so I tried spybot SD. It managed to find a few things: Smitfraud, smitfraud.gp, virtumonde, win32.Agent.ac, RoyalCasino, something about keyloggers, and a few more malwares and trojans. I clicked "fix". Then I check my task manager again. I was glad that it looked like it did yesterdey(in other words, normal).

I restarted my comp as I read on spybot description that I should do so to completely remove virtumonde. Then I connected to the internet and check if the problem still persist. And it STILL IS!! It still redirects me to other webpages when I tried to click the link in google search for "enable task manager". And my task manager is still showing high readings(but slightly lower than earlier but still much higher than normal). And Windows Security Alert is still warning me about GreenScreen and bankfraud trojan when I am in the internet.

When I run Spybot SD again and scan my comp, it showed nothing(no threat) eventhough I am sure that there is something still lurking in my comp.

Please help me! I really don't know what to do. I am panicking now!!! Please, please help me! I really appreciate it.

I am really helpless here and very worried.
If nobody replied because i didn't provide insufficient info or for any reason, please tell me. I'll do my best to assist you in helping me. Errr... that sounds weird but you get what I mean:laugh:

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Make sure you read and follow the directions, anything else will slow the process and waste both of our time. I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
The junk can be tough to remove, so do not expect fast or easy.

If you still need help, please slow down and read the directions, they are pinned (sticky) to the top of the forum and posted above. You will see this:

Posting additional comments or logs before a volunteer responds, can push you back instead of forward, because your thread ends up with a newer date. Also, helpers may think you are already being assisted because of the post count.

Do not download anything you are being prompted to download, that is malware.

We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:

You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly.

Uninstall one of those in add remove programs, reboot and post a new HJT log.

The new log should show TeaTimer not running and only one antivirus program running. Please describe symptoms of the malware.

Thank you soooooo much for replying!!!

I assume that you've read my first post so you know the symptoms of my laptop(Internet explorer jumps to diff page when I google "Enable task manager", and task manager blocked). Anyway, here are the recent symptoms:

1. Task manager is working now as I've fixed it manually(followed advice from other web before I found this web)

2. Windows Security Alert still kept popping up every few minutes(very irregular timing, and is less frequent since I last scanned my laptop with AVG). This time it showed, Trojan.Win32 keylogger, Bankfraud.dq, and win32 something. It only informed me of the threats, and ask me to purchase some software to solve it. And I did NOT.

3. Scanned my laptop with AVG yesterday, twice, and found the following:

Trojan Horse BackDoor.Hugipon4.ALCB
Trojan Horse Generic11.LAN
Trojan Horse Generic8.KIO

Both Trojan Backdoor and Generic8 were found in my system Volume Information on two seperate scans. In other words, I think, everytime I log into the internet, it infects me somehow.

4. After stopping TeaTimer and uninstalling Kaspersky(coz it's just a trial version which hasn't expired, that cannot be updated, I wonder why, it said "Internal Error" when I tried updating), I restarted my laptop. A few things popped up before it shut down. The following programs cannot end so it prompted me to "End Now": smmgr, NET.Broadcast Window, and DirectoryChange something. So I have to click "End Now" thrice.

5. Then as the comp was restarting(ie. loading all the icons on taskbar as usual), I saw something blink in the middle of a screen. I am very sure that I saw a blue outline(I use XP Home edition) so it must be a program which opened and closed instantly. That never happen before.

6. Before I scanned my comp with AVG, whenever I enter the internet, the available physical memory drops at an alarming rate. I usually have around 250 000K available but when I logged in to the net, it dropped to 70 000K. Very unusual. I saw a few new processes in the task manager but can't pinpoint them. And common processes which I know are not harmful suddenly took up sooo much memory.

7. After scanning with AVG, the problem still persists but it is not so horrible. I have 170 000K physical memory available. Common processes do not suddenly take a surge of memory. They still increase but only a little compared to before.

8. I posted this by using a different comp. In other words, after obtaining the HijackThis report, I did not log into the internet. I also did not scan my comp with AVG now and will not do so until I receive a reply so that the HJT report is as accurate as possible and there are very little changes.

I will be very very busy today and tommorrow so I will only read your reply on Wednesday. Till then. Thanks in advance.

ps: What do you mean by "your softwares"? The only software I dl from this web is hijackthis. The bottom is the report.

Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

I dled it and ran it. There is one thing that worries me in the report. WHAT IS CORRUPTED? The report mentioned that a few thing are "not inevitably corrupted" and those files seem to be from SmitFraudFix itself. Can you pls explain?

Thanks for returning your information, Smitfraudfix found the infection and it also found this:

After we clean, in the next C:\rapport.txt, there may be a very large hosts file (items starting with 127.0.0.1) and I do not need to see it. Edit (remove) it from the C:\rapport.txt before you post it.

Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infected files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log.

Do you mean "hit Enter to RESTORE trusted zone."?
By the way, what "trusted zone" are you talking about? The internet?

Yes, please follow the directions as posted. If hackers are running anything from TZ's to give them better access to the computer, this will get rid of them.
