Unable to open Spybot to scan

i have spyware and downloaded spybot, but the spyware won't allow me to open/run spybot or any other spyware program (kasperksy) i've tried to install. the only one i was able to open and successfully scan with was ad-aware, which said it removed all the threats, but it obviously didn't. please help!

i have windows XP, IE7 and firefox. i'm not sure how relevant it is, but i was using firefox when i got the infection and when i downloaded spybot.

Please see instructions in this link: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288) to download HiJackThis (HJT).

Skip the Spybot-S&D scan for now. ;)

If you find you cannot run HJT, rename HijackThis.exe to mocha0030.exe and see if that works to produce the log.

Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) and a helper will advise you as soon as available.
