I am attempting to install SpyBot on a system that is infected and cannot currently connect to the internet. I have copied the executable and the file update executable to the system but when I run the install I am stopped by the software attempting to resove the server address www.safer.networking.org . Obviously, since there is not an internet connection, it cannot reach out to the server. Is there some way to install SB without having to connect to the internet?

THANKS for any assistance.

pilotchris84:

The solution to this problem is to skip trying to updating during the installation and update after the installation using another download.
Please read my suggestion in post #5 (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=166620&postcount=5) of this thread:
Install Issue...

To update after the installation, download the following item:
Detection updates© 2008-10-15 - product description
md5: 280062AA998364882E4B4FF272D55FB0

This updates the detection rules. Only needed if you do not want to use the update function integrated into Spybot-S&D.

Yes :)

When the installation asks you for the intall type, do not select "Full" - select "Custom" instead and uncheck the option to immediately download updates.

You can copy the Detection Updates installer found on our download page as well to that machine to have the latest detection patterns installed withouh the live download.
