No updates available?

For the past 2 weeks, when I check for updates from within Spybot 1.6, it says "no updates available" but there is a later version posted on the web site. I can download the update manually and it updates the program correctly. I am experiencing the identical problem on 3 PCs with WinXP Pro and 1 PC with Win2000.

Enabling the "auto check for updates at program launch" gives same result.

I had one XP Pro PC which showed 9/24/08 as last update. Downloading the manual update had no effect (other PCs were updated to 10/22), so I uninstalled SpyBot and re-installed 1.6.0.30. During startup, said "no updates available" yet program About says "no detection updates installed." Downloaded 10/22 update, but program still says none installed. Ugh.
