I don't see why you still have the hosts file in the immunization.

It is well known that using the hosts file causes problems with win2k/xp/2k3 with severe system hangs.

I think you should remove this from spybot s&d, really.

Actually, you probably refer to Windows 2000 only?

I've experienced the same problem with Windows XP, both service packs 2 and 3.

I can check 2k3 later.

Does "the same problem" mean that it is affected by enabling/dsabling the DNS Service?

Yep, and disabling the DNS service will break internet connections for those that have a dynamic ip or are using active directory.
