removal of Zlob.DNSChanger

I need to remove a very troublesome Trojan, Zlob.DNSChanger, which keeps redirecting me to sites I have not chosen to visit, and prevents updating of software etc. I know that there are a number of threads dealing with this problem, but the solutions seem to need the use of Hijack etc. on an individual basis. So am I right that I need to start a new thread, hoping that someone will take me by the hand to lead me through the solution to my individual case? I have several times used Spybot to locate and remove it, but it then comes back again.

I am using Windows XP with SP3 which has been updated with all the latest security patches.:sad:
