Hacktool.rootkit virus [Archive] - Safer-Networking Forums

Hey, yesterday my norton showed up on the scans that my pc is having a virus called hacktool.rootkit but were unable to delete it.
Now today when I loaded up my computer it deleted one .dll file (cant remember what) and claimed it was infected with the hacktool.rootkit

I want to know am I still having the virus or did I get rid of it? Here is a hjackthis log (i renamed hjackthis.exe to scanner.exe, I read somewhere some malware may hide from it)

You need to understand we are volunteers and it can be several days before we can get to your issues, see this:

Hacktool.Rootkit comprises a set of programs and scripts that work together to allow attackers to break into a system. If Hacktool.Rootkit is detected on a system, it is very likely that an attacker has gained complete control of that system. All files that are detected as Hacktool.Rootkit should be deleted. Infected systems may need to be restored from backups or patched to restore security.

You're infected, one or more of the identified infections can steal information. If this system is used for online banking or has credit card information on it, all passwords should be changed immediately by using a different computer (not the infected one!) to make the changes. Banking and credit card institutions, if any, should be notified of the possible security breech. I suggest that you read this article too.
