Zlob variant - Blocked websites/AV cant update

Hi,

Im having problems removing this malware from my cousins laptop. He said he got infected from a codec download and a spybot scan originally found some sort of zlob infection.

The infection was removed and I've tried all sorts of scans to fix it to no avail. The desktop icons it used to create no longer return but I still cannot browse AV/spyware websites such as www.avg.com or the spybot site.

AV and other programs (spybot included as well as windows updates) cannot update. Im sure its not my router as other computers can browse fine, and the DNS settings are set automatically.
