Not sure if this is a false positive or not so I figured I'd start here. The spybot scan that I ran earlier came up with the fraud.systemantivirus and it appeared to fix it when I selected the "fix selected items" button.
It showed the following registry change:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-285461 4090-1661991003-1934058679-1006\software\SAV

The computer is running normal but here's the HJT log to be on the safe side. Thanks!

Hi shannon39.

Let's turn off Winpatrol as it may interfere with the fix.

Right-click the running icon of Winpatrol in the system tray and choose exit. It will automatically restart at next boot.

Please open HiJackThis and choose do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below:

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, including browsers, so that nothing other than HijackThis is open, then click Fix Checked. A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES. Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

Please download ATF-cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) and save it to your desktop.
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser:

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser:

Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Reboot your computer.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware here (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) and save to your desktop.
Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to:
Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the log back into your next reply

As the term conveys, a firewall is an extra layer of security installed onto computers, which restricts access to systems from the outside world. Firewalls protect against hackers and malicious intruders. I want you to download a free firewall NOW from one of these excellent vendors:

1) ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_za.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en&lid=nav_za)

If you are using the built-in Windows XP firewall, it is not recommended as it does not block outgoing connections. Hi.
Did as you suggested. Installed ZoneAlarm and StartupLite. Will StartupLite possibly correct the problem that I have of almost constant hung apps when trying to access Internet Explorer? It seems that it takes 2-3 tries everytime I try to access it. When I Control/Alt/Delete to end the non-response it seems that the CPU is always below 10.
And, also on my account on this computer, I had constant problems with signing off associated with our HP printer/scanner but I fixed that the other day by ending the startup process on WinPatrol.:)
Also another question you might be able to help me with? When I try to read anything on like MSNBC or even Yahoo (mainly articles of any type), I scroll down the page, then page "hops" back up to the top. It's very annoying. This doesn't happen with e-mail. I have even noticed it on my other computer (that has Vista) so I'm thinking it might be an Explorer issue?

I kind of figured Firefox would be the answer. I have been considering a switch for quite a while since the hung apps and page hopping is getting to be quite annoying...
Apparently Java got wiped out at some point during the past 2 days cause it had to be re-installed. I told the other account user of this computer to make sure it was from Sun Microsystems before re-installing.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Next we remove all used tools.

Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows XP or Vista then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt

Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable

Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable

Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt

Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt

Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt

When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.

If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com (http://www.windowsupdate.com) regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a new and powerful anti-malware tool. It is

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Thank you so much for the help.
I did as you suggested in the last reply. There was only one change in the custom level area that I had to make, all the others were already checked to what you suggested.
As far as updating/scanning anti-virus, I check AVG everyday for the scan results and to make sure it's up to date as well as check microsoft updates weekly. I update/scan with Spybot every Wednesday/Thursday evening as well. Spyware Blaster is checked many times a week for updates and I always look at Winpatrol for any oddities.:crazy:

Hopefully now this computer will remain clean with all the new additions. If not, I guess I will start cutting off the fingers of the users of this machine (4 total users, includes my fingers as well). I see that as preventing malware one fingertip at a time :rotfl:
Nah, I really won't go that far. Sometimes I do wish XP had parental controls like Vista does however.
