Downloading updates

On and off it's impossible to update Spybot. It is not just from within the program itself, but also from the web. Very annoying ! Are Your servers down or have they been hacked ?

Very unlikely.
You said that you cannot update Spybot-Search&Destroy... are you also saying that you can't access the web (using a web browser)?

Open Spybot-SD>Help>About (tell me what version you are running).
What Operating System?
 
The replaced update server that got new hardware to be faster was throttled until the move to it had been fully finished. The hoster promised about half a dozen times by now that the throttling has been removed. Last time was today around 1 p.m. GMT. I just called them though and a nice person from the night shift promised me tat is wasnt listed as throttled anymore in any system but she would still regularly check on it till the morning to remove any throttling should it reappear.
