So figured I'd do a random scan of my computer with Spybot just to check and make sure everything was okay. However, I noticed that Spybot discovered I had Virtumonde on my computer so i clicked for it to fix selected problems and then I scanned again but I still noticed that there were some Virtumonde.dll files. Here is the Hijack This log.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance) http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Make sure you read and follow the directions, anything else will slow the process and waste both of our time. I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
The junk can be tough to remove, so do not expect fast or easy.

Any other symptoms? Vundo is a prolific popup maker, if it is on the computer you should know it.

I am not seeing your antivirus program (Avast4) in Running Process in the HJT log, do you know why that is?

1) Please post an uninstall list: Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP,
Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

(if you use the hp redirects you can leave them, they are not making your browser run better and you can set any startpage you wish)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

*Cleaning Prefetch may result in a few slow starts until the folder is repopulated:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Gaining-Speed-Empty-Prefetch-XP.html

5) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

No, I haven't noticed any symptoms. I haven't really noticed any problems, I simply decided to run a spybot check and it showed that my computer had Virtumonde on it.

I previously had the Avast antivirus running on my computer. However, apparently there was a trial time for it and the trial time ran out so I uninstalled the software. That would explain why it's not running but I don't know why it's still showing up on my computer.

Here is the uninstall list from Hijack (I edited out a few of the things you posted).

Frustrating:sad:...TeaTimer was not running in the first HJT log, were it I would have had you disable it, why are you turning on new programs during this repair? HJT can not remove junk when TeaTimer is running!

First things first...

1) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
* If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
* On the left hand side, Click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
* Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer.
(leave TT disabled until we finish)

2) You need an antivirus program, here is the free one I use.
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
A helpful tutorial if you can use it:
How to Install Free version AVG 8.0 without LinkScanner feature
http://russelltexas.com/tutorials/avg8install.htm
additional valuable information: FAQ
http://www.avg.com/faq
AVG Free Forum
http://freeforum.avg.com/

Once installed, follow these directions:
Right click the icon for AVG in System Tray and choose Open AVG User Interface.

Click on Update now, allow AVG to download and install any new updates.

Click on Computer Scanner then choose "Scan whole computer", this takes a round one hour on the computer I am using now.

Near the bottom above the words "The scan is complete" choose "Export overview to file"

Choose Desktop and give it a name you will recognize like AVG Scan Results, then choose SAVE.

Close results and close the Interface.

Copy and paste the contents of that file if you have something you think I should see.

3) Uninstall list: I look for malware and security issues and will not know all of your programs, but you should.

Hackers are using out of date programs to infect folks more and more,
Here is a small free tool that lets you know when something needs an update if you are interested:
https://psi.secunia.com/ While PSI runs in the System Tray for realtime notifications, I personally prefer to turn it off in MSConfig and run it from All Programs when I want to do a check.

Adobe Reader 6.0.1 <<< very, very old, see this information.
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10081618-83.html?tag=nl.e433
http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_reader/

Azureus <<< uninstall all p2p programs
File Sharing, otherwise known as Peer To Peer. (P2P)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=282
If your helper detects the presence of such programs on your computer he/she will ask you to remove them. Help will be withdrawn should you not agree to their removal.

LiveUpdate 1.90 (Symantec Corporation) <<< no longer using this so uninstall it

Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5.2.20 <<< uninstall the old version.

When you get to this point, post a fresh HJT log.

Mention how the computer is running.

Thanks

I apologize about the TeaTimer incident. After posting I must have forgotten I posted and reenabled TeaTimer. It is now disabled though. Sorry about that.

I downloaded AVG and ran a scan and it found a TON of worms. It appeared as an Excel document so I opened it with Notepad and attempted to paste it in this response but it made the response WAY too long and the forum told me to shorten it. Mainly it found MANY files infected with the same worm and then it found 3 trojan horses. So here's a copy/paste of one of the files infected with the worm and of the 3 files infected with the trojan horses. (Altogether there were 8895 infected files)

"C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\Complete\X-Xonix 1.0.zip:\Setup.exe";"Virus identified Worm/VB.SO";"Infected"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\g57.exe";"Trojan horse Clicker.PFY";"Infected"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\g57.exe:\$CF\$KH";"Trojan horse Clicker.PFY";"Infected"
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\vcom4\PAG32015t.exe";"Trojan horse SHeur.CDRL";"Infected"

Also, I uninstalled and updated what you recommended so here's the new Hijack log.

I downloaded AVG and ran a scan and it found a TON of worms.
Did you delete that document and scan again to make sure it is clean? Did you delete or quarantine what was found by AVG?
"Altogether there were 8895 infected files" <<< then this is likely some kind of file infector virus and the only way to get rid of it is likely to reformat the computer.

Before I waste my time and yours, scan again with AVG and delete or quarantine anything it finds, let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Okay so I deleted the infected files that were found by AVG without any problems it just took a long time. Then I ran another scan on my computer and it found no infected files so I'm assuming that's a good sign? Here's the log from the second scan.

"Scan ""Scan whole computer"" was finished."
"Infections found:";"0"

I believe it would be best if we check better and get a second and perhaps a third opinion to back up AVG. Let's start with a Kaspersky Online Scan (KOS):

Do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/languages/english/check.html?n=1213442456390

1. Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.
2. Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
3. The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
4. After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer
5. This will start the program and scan your system.
6. The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
7. Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
8. Now, click on the Save Report as button.
9. Save the file to your desktop.
10. Copy and paste that information in your next post

Thanks

I will have to assume you moved those infected files AVG located to the Virus Vault. Let's clean them off you computer if this is the case.

1) Right click the AVG icon in the System tray then click Open AVG User Interface.

2) Click History at the top then Virus Vault.

3) Click Empty Vault.

Here are lists to help with AVG 8
FAQ: http://www.avg.com/faq
AVG Free Forum: http://freeforum.avg.com/

Please post a new HJT log and tell me how the computer is running.

Thanks...Phil

You still have some adware that did not get removed last time, let's do this.
Make sure programs like Adwatch that may block us are turned off temporarily.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...ion&pf=desktop

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [avast!] C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Clean the System Restore files like this:

Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot

Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
