My computer spontaneously rebooted and now there is a red circle with an X in it in my system tray, with a popup that says "Windows detected spyware, click here to remove, etc."

Also:

-Google search results redirect to various spam websites.
-I cannot access this forum specifically! I am on another computer writing this.
-All other sites work normally as far as I know.
-I cannot run Hijackthis! I cannot even re-install it from the .exe file I had saved from before, nor can I uninstall. Nothing happens when I click. Tried safe mode doesn't work either.

I read a bit about this and tried disabling TDSserv.sys which is in my device list under hidden non-plug and play files. Didn't do anything. I still can't run hijackthis.

I've read solutions to similar problems which all involve running various Fix type programs but before I start fooling around with that I wanted to post here.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Not sure if this helps but I have identified brastk.exe and karna.dat in the windows and windows/system32 folders. I read that these might be malicious files associated with my problems?
