Volume control icon

After running Spybot, the volume control icon disappears from the task bar. I can find the menu under properties that shows which icons to display, but the volume icon is shaded out and not clickable. It was clickable once after I ran SpyBot, but not now.

I need the volume icon as for some reason my volume just goes to zero. I do not have keyboard support for volume.

Any help will be appreciated.

Can you go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices and check the next checkbox: "Place volume icon on taskbar".

I do not see anywhere on the control panel, sound, that has a box to click, "place icon on task bar". I am using Vista. Looked in advanced config, all over.

Right click on the Taskbar and go to "Notification Area", then un-tick the volume option and press "Apply" then re-tick it and press "Apply" again and that should fix it, if it doesn't then I'm out of ideas.
