• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

New user question: teatimer not in system tray

As you can tell I am pretty new user. I had a little trouble with constant popup Reg Change Denied, User Blacklist... Got that settled down. My question is why can't I see Teatimer in my system tray and why when I shut down the computer I get popup:
End Program - Teatimer
This Program is not responding.
If you choose to end .....

I can see teatimer.exe in my processes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jim, if you have trouble understanding the prompts, you can always disable TeaTimer. And about the "user blacklist", you can always undo the changes on that section.

How you performed a reboot following your most recent update?
Are you running the latest version of TeaTimer (beta)?

like drragostea said....

if you do not understand how to respond to teatimer's prompts, i recommend disabling it. Here is the directions to disable it if you decide this option:

To disable teatimer: Open spybot. Click mode-advanced mode. Click yes in the message that appears. Then, click tools-resident. Uncheck the box next to teatimer, protection over all systems active.

Also, see this link on your issue: http://forums.spybot.info/project.php?issueid=351

Hope that helps! :)

re: Missing icon:

The problem seems to only occur on certain systems (mine is not one of them). Code is being added to TeaTimer to recreate the icon if it disappears. See PepiMK's comments in the following thread:
In the mean time to get the icon back you could try to stop and restart TeaTimer as follows:
  • Go into Spybot » (Mode » Advanced Mode) » Tools » Resident.
  • Under the heading "Resident protection status", uncheck the following item:
    • Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.
  • Then recheck that item.
