Spybot won't start - sort of.

Several problems. Can't access security related web sites, etc.... (I can do a "nslookup" then type the ip address into the browser and it works.)

Ran Spybot and it cleaned several trojans, but after a reboot and another run it still found virtumonde.dll

Rebooted and now spybot won't start. Actually, I can see it in the process list, but the gui never displays. After a few minutes, it disappears out of the process list. Tried removing, then reinstalling, but got the same results. Unfortunately after I removed it, I also deleted the preferences because I thought they might be corrupt. Tried running from the command line with the same results. (but maybe it would have worked had I not deleted the preferences (config.ini?)

Consider posting in the Malware Removal (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) forum and having someone take a look at your system.

If you decide to have an experienced malware removal specialist assist you, please follow the procedure in this link to run scans and produce a HijackThis log: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance) ( http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288).

What you'll have to do is rename the Spybot desktop icon, because the malware has disabled it.
