I don't think I'm clean yet.

I am a complete novice at this. I recently got infected with Win32/heur and with that came many trojans. I'm scanning clean with spybot but when I scanned with AVG it came up with one more that I got rid of. One of the effects of these virus' were that they attacked windows and windows defender didn't work. I got it back online yesterday but came back today and it isn't showing in the bottom right (with all of the icons) but I can start it manually. Also the format of control panel has changed from how it looked in my usual XP version closer to that of my moms Vista version. Any suggestions on how I can make sure if I'm clean or not? I'm seeing people posting logs, what are those and how can I do that?
