I discovered the above trojan on my wife's computer last night. Before I read the thread about not applying fixes from other threads, I followed the instructions in thread # 30448.
At this point, spybot reports no problems to fix, but her browser continues to exhibit the same slow response.
What should I do? I'm not posting the HJT log yet because I want to be sure it would be worth it to go thru the download and so forth from her computer. I'm posting this from another box.
Thanks...

Welcome back to Safer Networking, it's been a while.
I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance) http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.
Well, I can not tell you much at this point other than if that trojan is on the computer security is badly compromised, have a look at the Google:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Win32.Agent.mf+&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=
And I believe you should view this information:
How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10063
Some advice would be to always read and follow the directions, in this case I posted those above but they are also pinned (sticky) to the top of this forum. For me to proceed, I would need at least the HJT log described in those directions plainly, posted for starters. Not a lot more I can tell you at this point.
Thanks...Phil

Thanks for the HJT log, the only thing that looks strange to me are all of the 010 items, do you ko what they are?
O10 - Unknown file in Winsock LSP: c:\windows\system32\salsp.dll
Might have something to do with your security agent:
C:\Program Files\Lightspeed Systems\SecurityAgent\satray.exe
especially since they start with the same two letters.
You can scan that file if you wish, you would probably need to show all files and folders:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html and use a free scan like:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
But if you know those items are from the security program, no need to bother.
Let's talk about this, you said:
I discovered the above trojan on my wife's computer last night.
What program identified the problem? Where did that program say this item was located?
Then you said:
I followed the instructions in thread # 30448.
What exactly does that mean? What exactly did you do? Having done that you said:
At this point, spybot reports no problems to fix, but her browser continues to exhibit the same slow response.
Have you run the program that identified the trojan to start with, what does it show?
What browser are you using? Do you have another browser installed that you can try to see if the browser is the issue?
Thanks

Hi again:
I do not know what the 10 items you mention are. Perhaps they are indeed part of the security agent software.
The program that identified the problem was Spybot Search & Destroy.
When I say I followed the instructions in thread #30448, I performed each instruction made by the security specialist in that thread. That is, I ran the SDFix, the ComboFix, and so forth in the order suggested there. At the time, I thought I was saving you guys time
When I stated that Spybot no longer reports the problem, I was actually saying that the orginal program that identified the problem is no longer detecting it.
Firefox is also on this computer and also exibits slow browsing behavior. Other computers in our house are browsing fine, and this is not a slow computer.

I will be away from my computer for several hours.
I do not know what the 10 items you mention are. Perhaps they are indeed part of the security agent software.
Then use the scanner I posted to find out so we are both sure.
At the time, I thought I was saving you guys time
No two infections are exactly alike, what was posted for that member was tailored to that infection. If you would have read the directions...

Until a helper responds, the HJT log has not been analyzed. Please wait to be advised and don't run fixes until asked. This is especially important if your Operating System is Windows Vista!!

Start with your resident antivirus program, download any updates and scan the system, post the results. Post a new HJT log with those results.
Thanks

That is the second time you have made a comment about not following directions. Apparently, I did not explicitly apologize for initially not following directions. I made a mistake and cannot go back an undo it. Please know that my intentions were good. I know that you are a volunteer, and I appreciate your help.
The scanner you pointed to, http://virusscan.jotti.org/ , does not seem to point to anything. I get an error when trying to navigate to that page.
I will retry to scan the computer with the security agent software and report back when it is done.

Sometimes the sites get busy, it seems to be working fine now. Here are two more just in case.

http://www.virustotal.com/
To be sure, they all work about alike. File to upload & scan: <<< white box, browse until this file is in the box.
c:\windows\system32\salsp.dll Then click the Submit button. In a few minutes you will receive results, post those.
Thanks

Hi Phil:
Jotti's malware scan returned a status of OK. The complete system scan by Security Agent revealed nothing. So, it appears we've done all we can do. I'll have to investigate other reasons for the slow browsing experience. Thanks very much for you time.

See if MBAM locates anything hidden:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.
