hi
i visited a web site today and as i was scrolling down i passed over an entry which stated and was correct my i p address ,my i s p , the system im using and the toolbar im using and then asked me how was my security was and informed me i have a leak ,
i guess i must have a hole in the security and can someone advise me on what to do about it
i run avg free , spybot , and spyware blaster
hope im asking the right question in the right place

Typical trick, that's information that every website you visit will see.

A bunch of phishy sites try to tell you that that would be a security hole.

Every website needs your IP - the server needs to know where to ned back the pages that you're opening to.

There are registers of who owns which IPs online, so everyone could look that up and know the ISP owning your current IP.

The system is usally transmitted to every website as part of the "User Agent", which primarily is intended to allow sites to serve diefferent browsers differently.

Not sure about the toolbar, but I'm pretty sure it's the same cheap trick.

So, all in all, that's the same information that every website will see and it's standard and cannot be avoided.

thanks PepiMK ,wish i knew more but with every question answered i get a little smarter ,now i just have to find a way to retain the information
it sucks getting old
