Hi!

This is an awesome site - you guys rock:bigthumb:

I have tried to manually delete this file after getting a Norton Warning it couldn't remove the virus - no luck:scratch: ! There are 2 files

AdServ.dll
Adserv - I managed to delete this guy..here's the log

Hello and welcome to the forum. I don't see this stuff in the log. Here is the Google on Adserv: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-16,GGLG:en&q=Adserv so I really don't know what it is. If you are positive it is bad and you know where the .dll is just boot to safe mode: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html
and delete it. If it gives you a problem, use this link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html and scroll down to these instructions: How to use the Delete on Reboot tool

You do have a couple of items you should address:

1) HJT.exe is running from a Temp file and this is not safe as backups will be lost: C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.062\HijackThis.exe I suggest you most it here: C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need more instructions, use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

2) C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\smitRem.exe <<< smitRem is a tool that needs to be downloaded fresh if you need to use it again because it is constantly being updated. You can delete this old copy.

3) R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = <<< this is a dead line and clutter, use HJT to remove it.

4) It appears "word wrap" is turned on in notepad? You need to turn it off when you are scanning and posting your HJT log.
Notepad > Format > Word Wrap > OFF(unchecked)
