The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Fake.AVG-Beta" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Fake.AVG-Beta claims to be a beta version of the antivirus software AVG. If the computer is infected the malware copies itself to your system directory and system drive. Additionally it tries to connect to the internet. When it is connected it waits for new orders to harm the computer and spy on the user.
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd), RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

Entries named "AVG Beta Protection" and pointing to "C:\AVG_BETA\Tools\csrss.scr".
Entries named "AVG System" and pointing to "C:\AVG_BETA\Tools\msnmsgr.exe".
Entries named "Epson Deskjet/Update" and pointing to "C:\AVG_BETA\Tools\taskmgr.exe".
Entries named "Win Tools" and pointing to "C:\AVG_BETA\Tools\svchost.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\DB\arquivo.txt".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\DB\contador.txt".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\DB\wsen.txt".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\AZIP32.DLL".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\csrss.scr".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\msnmsgr.exe".
A file with an unknown location named "msnmsgr.exe".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\smss.exe".
A file with an unknown location named "smss.exe".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\svchost.exe".
A file with an unknown location named "svchost.exe".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\taskmgr.exe".
A file with an unknown location named "taskmgr.exe".
The file at "c:\AVG_BETA\Tools\winlogon.exe".
A file with an unknown location named "winlogon.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fake.AVG-Beta uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Folders:

The directory at "c:\AVG_Firewall".
The directory at "c:\AVG_Firewall\DB".
The directory at "c:\AVG_Firewall\vine".
The directory at "c:\MSN_UP2".
The directory at "c:\MSN_UP2\DB".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fake.AVG-Beta uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
