The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Fraud.XPAntivirus" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
XPAntivirus claims to be an antispyware solution. When it is installed on the computer it shows a lot of harmless cookies, browser helper objects and autorun entries as high risk spyware problems installed by itself. When the user wants to fix these false positives he has to purchase a license.
Removal Instructions:

Desktop:

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

Shortcuts named "Antivirus 2009.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Antivirus 2009\*.exe".
Shortcuts named "XP_AntiSpyware.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\XP_AntiSpyware\XP_AntiSpyware.exe".
Shortcuts named "AV2010.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AV2010\AV2010.exe".
Shortcuts named "AV2010.lnk" and pointing to "C:\Program Files\AV2010\AV2010.exe".
Shortcuts named "AV2011.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\AV2011\AV2011.exe".

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

Items named "Uninstall XP Anti-Virus 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\xpapro*.exe*".
Items named "XP Anti-Virus 2008.lnk" and pointing to "<$LOCALSETTINGS>\Temp\xpapro*.exe".
Items named "Uninstall XPAntivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\XPAntivirus\unins*.exe".
Items named "XPAntivirus on the Web.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\XPAntivirus\XPAntivirus.url".
Items named "XPAntivirus.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\XPAntivirus\XPAntivirus.exe".

Quicklaunch area:

Please remove the following items from your start quick launch area text to the "Start" button in the taskbar at the bottom.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd), RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

Entries named "Windows Gamma Display" and pointing to "*AV2010*".
Entries named "brastk" and pointing to "*".
Entries named "avpl" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Antivirus Plasma\*.exe".
Entries named "ieupdate" and pointing to "?<$SYSDIR>\ieupdates.exe*".
Entries named "Antispyware-2008.exe" and pointing to "*".
Entries named "OneMoreKey" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\XP Antivirus\*.exe".
Entries named "XP Antivirus" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\XP Antivirus\*.exe".

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) or RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) to locate and get rid of these entries.

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Fraud.XPAntivirus uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

Delete the registry key "{7BC7565C-5062-43CE-8797-DC2C271140A9}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{705FD64B-2B7B-4856-9337-44CA1DA86849}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".

Delete the registry key "{FC8A493F-D236-4653-9A03-2BF4FD94F643}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
Remove "<$SYSDIR>\karna.dat" from registry value "AppInit_DLLs" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\".
Delete the registry key "XPA" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\".
