The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "ScanSpyware" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
ScanSpyware claims to be an antivirus solution. If it is installed on the computer it detects some spywares even if the computer is a totally clean machine. If the user wants to fix these problems, he has to buy a licence.
Removal Instructions:

Desktop:

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

Shortcuts named "ScanSpyware.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\Scanner.exe".

Quicklaunch area:

Please remove the following items from your start quick launch area text to the "Start" button in the taskbar at the bottom.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.

Quicklaunch symbols named "ScanSpyware.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\Scanner.exe".

Installed Software List:

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) or RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) to locate and get rid of these entries.

Products that have a key or property named "ScanSpyware_is1".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\Reset Internet Explorer Settings.lnk".
The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\ScanSpyware on the Web.lnk".
The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\ScanSpyware.lnk".
The file at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\Uninstall ScanSpyware.lnk".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\baBackupRestore.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\Scanner.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4\ScanSpyware.url".
The file at "<$DESKTOP>\ScanSpyware.lnk".
A file with an unknown location named "ss_install.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If ScanSpyware uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

The directory at "<$COMMONPROGRAMS>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\ScanSpyware v3.8.0.4".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If ScanSpyware uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

Delete the registry key "{392501A3-BC6C-488E-9663-D7388073A298}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\".
Delete the registry key "baBackupRestore.DLL" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\".
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "baBackupRestore.Backup", plus associated values.
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "baBackupRestore.Backup.1", plus associated values.
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "baBackupRestore.Restore", plus associated values.
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "baBackupRestore.Restore.1", plus associated values.
Delete the registry key "{9B20DF6A-133D-474C-B9CA-F492D1A112E0}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{F4C61C25-DA02-4CF3-BE43-AFE81ED3884E}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "ScanSpyware" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
Delete the registry key "{01667638-ABC1-4753-81FE-5E89FEA93EB6}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{C6A5ED20-49A5-4B92-8131-D6D8C8F107EC}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{CBE2E6C4-5D09-4B13-9FBA-DCAC57B62417}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
If ScanSpyware uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=regalyzer), RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
