Hello Josh and welcome to the forum. You have been the victim of hackers in the Ukraine, see this: http://whois.domaintools.com/85.255.113.194
It's going to take a little work and time and it is important that the instructions are followed exactly. If you wish to proceed then do so like this:

Before we start, move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

Thanks to LonnyRJones, Swandog46, and AutoDad and any others who helped with this fix.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Now lets check some settings on your system.
(2000/XP) Only
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable on some systems
Next Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

Post the HijackThis log, C:\fixwareout\report.txt and any comments you think will help. I will respond with the next step as soon as possible after you post. I also want to suggest that since these infections attract others and to deny the Ukrainians access to your computer, that you stay offline as much as possible until you are clean.

Thanks...pskelley

Thanks Lonny, Josh and I appreciate your help :) Josh, to follow up on that PM, this item:
O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe
Let's disable it like this:

Disable the offending Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Symantec Network Drivers Service and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled. If it should be needed for some other reason, it can easily be enabled.

Please follow these directions:

1) Please download Ewido Security Suite (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/) it is a trial version of the program.
Install ewido security suite
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click update
Then click on Start Update
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
Ewido manual updates (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/)

At this point, close the program and follow these instructions to start the computer in Safe Mode:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html

2) Once in Safe Mode, Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {F47969C9-03D1-6E1E-F46D-3768234219E7} - br0ken.dll (file missing)
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {089A363D-8BDE-1F0C-EF49-424B301825A0} - 10010.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [syspanel] Trayz.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iehelper] systemdll.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CToolBar] SYSTRAV.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [systemdll] InpriseMon.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msag] gabber.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [iesetupdll] backd.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PrcIdle] Trayz.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MNTP] bingo9.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: Bogobot.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [xwiz] ms-its.exe
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4D6991E8-985A-40FF-8A7F-E649D744B843}: NameServer = 85.255.113.194,85.255.112.98

Close all programs but HJT then click on "Fix Checked"

3) Now open and run ewido while still in safe mode using these instructions.
Once the updates are installed do the following:
Click on scanner
Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
If ewido detects a file you [b]KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
Click Save report.
Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
**(Ewido for example has been flagging parts of AVG Anti-Virus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk")

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Gaining-Speed-Empty-Prefetch-XP.html

Empty the Recycle Bin and restart the computer back to Normal Mode, then post the ewido scan results, a new HJT log and any comments you have you think will help.

If you don't have a good cleaner, use this free one with these instructions:
Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Thanks...Phil

Hi Josh, Thanks for returning the information and thanks to Lonny and Illukka for their help with the error messages during the fix. The ewido scan did it's job, mostly cookies but it did remove one trojan that looks like it is Wareout in nature.

Your HJT log also looks to be clean of Wareout and malware,
Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

To answer your questions, you should delete the Wareout tools, they need to be fresh anytime they are needed, but as I said you can stop ewido from running (disable) and you have a free scanner which can be updated and used for as long as you like.
It is a great tool as long as you have the disk space for it.

Prefetch: Many folks say never but most disagee. Here is a couple of more views. My suggestion would be every couple of months.

As far as speed, removal malware may or may not make a computer run faster. The ewido security suite is slowing you down, and until Prefetch repopulates it may slow you a little. The cleaning by CCleaner should also speed you up a little, but beyond that you need to look at other areas. Here are some suggestions:

If all sems to be back to normal, I would say you are good to go. Thanks for the B'day wishes. tashi will be around to close you in a few days.

Safe surfing...Phil:bigthumb:

Thanks...pskelley
