Spyware Threat. My Log.

I'm very new to all of this. But whoever is running this site is a top notch person. My donation is forthcoming. On to my queston....

I installed spybot and ran it and cleaned up my mess. However I still have this error (in red) on my desktop:

Warning! Spyware threat detected! System error #1752

access was gained by another computer. It is strictly recommeded
to install an anti-virus software to close all security breaches.

If you do not have advanced knowledge about computers you should not attempt to fix entries using HijackThis without consulting an expert on using this program.

No worries, one step at a time.

This is the way to get the HJT log so a helper can analyse it and provide assistance.


3) Posting your HiJackThis log here:

First put hijackthis into a permanent folder.
Do this first - go to C: and create a new permanent folder.
Example C:\AntiSpyWare or C:\hijackthis
This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong.
Then put (or download - choose "save" not "run") the hijackthis.exe file in this folder.
If you downloaded a zipped HJT file unzip it to the permanent folder so you have C:\hijackthis\hijackthis.exe.
Example of the wrong way:
C:\DOCUME~1\Name\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe
Running hjt from the wrong folder may delay assistance as your helper will have to ask for a new log


Double click HijackThis.exe.
Hit None Of The Above, just start the program.
Hit Scan.
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Click that, save the log somewhere, and copy/paste the HJT log into your own new topic.

The topic's title should be the problem you believe you may have.
For instance; CWS, SpyAxe, Popups, Browser Hijack etc. Not just 'here is my hjt log' ;)

If you have to post more than one log in your thread (meaning more than one post) straight off before a helper responds, then please write [LOGS] in the topic title.
This is because helpers normally look for topics with only the original post from member. (Zero replies)

Most of what hjt lists will be harmless or even required, so do not fix anything yet. A helper will guide you.

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

I'm not doing something right. I saved it to my desktop and attempted to run it......got window titled C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe with the following message:

"Fichier Proccess.exe Absent Unzip all achrives in folder".

What did I do wrong? :scratch:

You are familur with extracting/unzipping files ?

If the tool isnt first unzipped it will not work, its also possible the download was corrupted, re-download it and try again.

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

Please download the trial version of Ewido anti-malware 3.5 from here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install Ewido anti-malware.
When installing, under Additional Options uncheck Install background guard and Install scan via context menu.
When you run Ewido for the first time, you could get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click Ok.
The program will prompt you to update. Click the Ok button.
The program will now go to the main screen.
You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left-hand side of the main screen click the Update Button.
Click on Start.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once finished updating, close Ewido.
Dont run a scan yet

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
Ewido manual updates (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/). Make sure to close Ewido before installing the update.


Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Login on your usual account.

Clean out your Temporary Internet files. Proceed like this:
Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
Click OK.
Next Click Start, click Control Panel and then double-click Display. Click on the Desktop tab, then click the Customize Desktop button. Click on the Web tab. Under Web Pages you should see a checked entry called Security info or something similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the Delete button. Click Ok then Apply and Ok.

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode again.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply. (not yet though)

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
Click on Scanner
Click on Settings
Under How to scan all boxes should be checked
Under Unwanted Software all boxes should be checked
Under What to scan select Scan every file
Click on Ok
Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
Let the program scan the machine.
If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
Click Save Report button
Save the report to your Desktop
Close Ewido and Reboot in Normal Mode.

Hello. I am in the process of dowloading Ewido anti-malware. Your instructions say to then Install it.....is that the same as "running" it? Because when I open the folder from my desktop after downloading it, my only option is to run it....no "advanced options" .....then it just takes me back to the web page that I downloaded it from.

I'm sorry to be so much trouble.....this is all very hard for me.....

Yes run (install it) then update the program and exit, dont do a scan yet
will do that in safe mode.

Another problem. I have windows XP. My husband and I have seperate logons. When I pull the machine up in safe mode, the only options I have are to logon as myself or administrator (his logon wasn't an option). The problem is that the screen saver is on my husbands logon, and smithfraudfix is also loaded under his logon.

I'm stuck. Again. Sorry to be MIA.....life got in the way.

Update suns java manualy
Sun Java V1.5.0_06 is Available: http://java.com/en/index.jsp
Afterwards Turn off it's auto-updater,(Its buggy) , in control panel java >
update tab uncheck its option to update automatically.
After you install the newer version its important to uninstall the old versions, via addremove programs.

Thank you very much, because of your help the error on my desktop is GONE!

I do have a few more questions:

Will installing the JAVA updates under my profile, protect the entire machine, or do I have to install under all profiles?

Of the three below, which do I need to get rid of (one of these is the install from the link in your PP)?:

Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03 117MB
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 119MB
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3 136MB



Lastly, the only problem (if it is indeed a problem?) is that two users can't be logged on the internet at the same time. For instance, if I am under my logon running Internet Explorer, another user cannot "switch users" and logon under their profile and access the internet. An error appears, I evenutally figured out the reason above for the error. I have portable broadband ISP with 6 seperate accounts. I am not familiar w/ XP, is this a specification that cannot be changed?

Yes the updated java works for all users

keep 5.0 Update 6 and uninstall the others

Im not sure about your other question, sounds normal, why not disconnect before switching users.
