The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Zlob.VAXCodec" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) or RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) to locate and get rid of these entries.

Products that have a key or property named "VAXCodec".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\VAXCodec\Uninstall.lnk".
The file at "<$PROGRAMS>\VAXCodec\VAX Codec Web Site.url".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\VAXCodec\TRNSCoderV4.ocx".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\VAXCodec\uninstall.exe".
The file at "<$SYSDIR>\shlapimext.dll".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Zlob.VAXCodec uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

Delete the registry key "{B310DEB1-8DE8-4B34-9E2C-26A1BE935A76}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{EEEAE130-AF08-44AA-886F-F764C4987F1C}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{69B8A579-9873-4F1D-AE61-1063C752FB41}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{D8396421-B1E7-4994-AF27-FAC2EA045D24}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{EAC7AB48-1443-421A-A80A-69AE89CC923F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{67F508EC-A0C7-4E9F-8936-A3D0D7B345F3}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
Delete the registry key "{DF923391-CA5F-4C7F-AAE2-C83E17F08057}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
Delete the registry key "VAXCodec" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
