View Full Version : Spybot v1.3
:confused: I recently ran Spybot S&D and received various updates (detection rules .....)
One change that I've noticed is in the Spybot S&D Resident pop up window when using IE, such as "Spybot-S&D reports that you want to download Mediaplex" and provides a YES or NO button to click.
In the past, this window continued to say something like "Do you want to block this download?", followed by the Yes or No choice.
In the current version, what am I saying Yes to if I click YES, and conversely, what am I saying No to if I click NO?
Hello dsarlo

Mediaplex is attempting to store a third party (or tracking) cookie on your system. Spybot is asking you if you what to block this (Yes) or allow the storing of the cookie (No).
There are two actions that you can take to emininate these messages;
Go into Spybot-S&D > Immunize. Look in the last section labeled "Permanently running bad download blocker for Internet Explorer". In the pull-down below "Enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in Internet Explorer" there are three options:
Block all pages silently
Display dialog when blocking
Ask for blocking confirmation
Select "Block all pages silently".
Follow the instructions in the following article and prevent the download of any third party cookies in your browser:
Why do other anti-spyware applications detect so many more tracking cookies?
