Alright guys, my computer is in need of some major help. I went on vacation for a few days and my brother took it over and did who knows what. From what I gathered, my computer contracted Command Service, Smitfraud, and Surfsidekick. I'm pretty sure I eliminated those but if there are any other logs you need, I can provide them. The parts I'm having major trouble fixing are with instant messenger (it sends one of those stupid ass "Check out pictures of me on myspace" messages), removing ABetterInternet.Nail (I keep blowing it out with Adaware in safe-mode and it just laughs at me) and I have a few strange entries in my HJT logs. Here it is guys, tell me what you think and please help.

The two F2s in my log and the 023 have me real puzzled.

Hey Mike, when I was reading what you had to say in the beginning, I figured this was going to be a nightmare. It still may be, but the HJT log does not look to bad. You must have covered a lot of ground. The F2's are the Qoologic trojan, and we have a removal tool that can kill it if you will but follow the directions.

The item running from services I can't identify:
O23 - Service: Network DDE DSMA (NetDDEdsma) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (file missing)
Here is the tool we use: http://castlecops.com/O23.html and when I search for Network DDE DSMA I get no information. You can use these tools:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
To get a read on the item for us. You will need hidden files and folders enabled:
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Than search for C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe (legit svchost.exe runs from the System32 folder) Post the results for me to view, we will go after it as soon as you have successfully removed Qoologic.

The only other thing I need you to do before you start is: Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

Thanks to LonnyRJones and any others who helped with this fix. You must follow the directions exactly if you want it to work.

Download Brute Force Uninstaller to your C:\
http://www.merijn.org/files/bfu.zip
Unzip it to a folder of its own (C:\BFU). So BFU should be on your root. In most cases this is C:\
Download qoofix.bat: http://downloads.subratam.org/Lon/qooFix.bat
(rightclick on this link and choose save as)
Place qoofix.bat in your C:\BFU - folder. (Important!)
Doubleclick qooFix.bat, Close all browsers and explorer folders.
Choose option 1 (Qoolfix autofix) and follow the prompts.
Please be patient, it will take about five minutes.
After the PC has restarted please post another hijackthis log.

Thanks...pskelley

Alright I'm just about to get started with your instructions. I moved HJT into it's on directory as per your instructions. I also managed to get rid of the strange 023 value. It was whatever took over my instant messenger and started acting the fool. I got rid of it with a tool from majorgeeks.com called AIMfix. Here's the log:

AIMFix version: 1.5.419.2215
SeDebug Privilege set successfully

***ANY VIRUS FILES REMOVED WILL BE LISTED BELOW***

Now checking for Block-Checker via BlockRemove(): .5
Checking for Block-Checker files...
Block-Checker not found
ServiceExists(): Found service NetDDEdsma
StopService(): failed on call to ControlService() for "NetDDEdsma": The service has not been started.

Service NetDDEdsma successfully disabled
Service NetDDEdsma successfully deleted

***RUN COMPLETED. ANY FILES REMOVED LISTED ABOVE***
----------------------------------------------------------

So that's just one more thing down. And yes, I did make a ton of headway with this problem. Like I said I came home and I thought my computer was gonna start speaking in tongues and puke green shit all over my apartment. Possessed is an understatement. Anyway I'll get started with your instructions and post up my new logs. Here's the latest:

Only one more question before all is said and done. Everytime I run Spybot I keep getting a reoccuring tracking cookie; Winsoftware.WinAntiVirusPro2006, do we have any idea what this is about?

Hi Mike, let me apologize:( I did not get the notifications when you posted Luckily others here were watching and spotted that fact.

Picking up here: 2006-04-26, 20:31 with your post.

Let's do a good cleaning since you had some real nasties. Let me know if the Winsoftware.WinAntiVirusPro2006 is gone after this.

This one: ALCMTR.EXE see this: http://castlecops.com/startuplist-5306.html This is an optional fix, if you don't want their spyware on your computer. You will need to search for the file, it is usually in C:\Windows\ your call.

You have ewido, open the program and choose update, allow time for it to finish. Now click scanner then complete system scan. Allow ewido to remove anything it locates unless you know it is not bad. Save that scan report, I must see it.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

ALCMTR.EXE <<< this file only if you want it gone.

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Gaining-Speed-Empty-Prefetch-XP.html

Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Post the ewido scan results and a new HJT log, let's see if we got it all. Include your comments.

Thanks...Phil
