The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Ad.GIGAsearch" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Ad.GIGAsearch registers a Browser Helper Object (BHO). Ad.GIGAsearch redirects the search and start pages of the browser. It creates a folder within the Windows directory and drops advertising desktop links.

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00001.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00002.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00003.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00004.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00005.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00006.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00007.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00008.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00009.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00010.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\bmp00011.bmp".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\dating.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\mortgages.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\pharmacy.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\poker.ico".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\Giga\spyware.ico".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Ad.GIGAsearch uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Folders:

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

Delete the registry key "{1F080480-802D-468F-AF65-D031EDCBFD4A}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
Delete the registry key "{79837A1F-9D73-4242-A3C1-9F2312EB8EF2}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
Delete the registry key "{C1EA1782-8E6E-4ea4-9800-B68DE41F1A26}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry value "{C1EA1782-8E6E-4ea4-9800-B68DE41F1A26}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\".
Remove "<regexpr>http\:..gigasearch\.biz. " from registry value "Search Page" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\".
Remove "<regexpr>http\:..gigasearch\.biz. " from registry value "Start Page" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\".
If Ad.GIGAsearch uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=regalyzer), RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
