The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Bearshare" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
running Bearshare requires the installation of Zango. Uninstalling Zango will disable Bearshare.
During installation the checkbox for beeing "18 or older " is already checked, this is not a valid for an installer. Also the Bearshare Eula strangely forbidds members of phantom companies from using bearshare.

Bearshares website is also registered through domains by proxy which is also not a valid option for a proper company.

Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd), RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

Entries named "BearShare" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BearShare.exe*".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BearShare.dat".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BearShare.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BearShareZangoInstaller.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BSidle.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BSZ.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\FreePeers.ini".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\History.txt".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\INSTALL.LOG".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Bearshare uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.

The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\db".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\Extras".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\Installer".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\Logs".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\Playlists".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\sounds".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\Temp".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\Webstats".

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

Delete the registry key "BearShareChatNotifyMsg" at "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\AppEvents\EventLabels\".
Delete the registry key "BearShare" at "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\".
Delete the registry key "{C285D18D-43A2-4AEF-83FB-BF280E660A97}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "RunMSC.Loader", plus associated values.
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "RunMSC.Loader.1", plus associated values.
Delete the registry key "{905D0DF2-3A0A-4D94-853C-54A12A745905}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
Delete the registry key "Bearshare" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Magnet\Handlers\".
Delete the registry value "<$PROGRAMFILES>\BearShare\BearShare.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\StandardProfile\AuthorizedApplications\List\".
If Bearshare uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=regalyzer), RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
