I have problems with a virus/trojan that is showing up as above. I've looked through the forums, but am confused on how to remove it. I thought that Spybot had removed it, but that was not the case.

Please Help!
Thanks
wdpaynter

hi,

do you know what this is:
C:\Program Files\RDM+

did you install this packet capture library?
C:\Program Files\WinPcap

lets see what this can dig up:

Download and run OTViewIt

http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTViewIt.exe

1. Please download OTViewIt by OldTimer and save it to your Desktop.
2. Close all applications and windows.
3. Double-click on the OTViewIt.exe to start OTViewIt.
4. Place a checkmark in the blue-colored "Scan All Users" checkbox.
5. Click the blue "Run Scan" button.
6. OTViewIt will now start its scan.
7. When the scan is complete, two text files will be created, OTViewIt.Txt <- this one will be opened in Notepad and Extras.txt, on Desktop.
8. Copy/paste the contents of OTViewIt.Txt and the Extras.txt in your reply please.

Thanks for lending your help!!

The RDM+ is a program for syncing iPhone, but I do not need or use it anymore.
The WinPcap I'm not sure where it came from, I've since used its provided Uninstall to delete it.

I've attempted to run the OTViewIt, but part way through the scan (while "Performing MountPoints@ scan") I get the following error:

Title bar says "Windows - No Disk"
Message says "Exception Processing Message C0000013 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c" It looks to continue this message of numbers, but is cut off

I'm given the option to "Retry" "Cancel" "Continue", but none do anything and I have to end the unresponsive program.

This also triggers another error window that I have been seeing before downloading OTViewIt. This has something to do with dwwin.exe (Dr. Watson) and the file msvcrt40.dll.

Please let me know what you suggest I do. Sorry this was unsuccessful.
Thanks
Bill P.

Another point you should know:

I have updated through Windows Update since posting (this AM). 4 of the 5 updates refered to Security Updates to Windows, Internet Explorer, & Security Pack 3. Not sure if they have helped yet.

The iexplore.exe did not show up @ startup, but it seems that it has only been showing up when I leave my computer on overnight, like it is scheduled to come on late night. I stop the process in the AM and it does not come back for a long time.

Sorry to ramble, just thought you should have all the info.
Thanks

hi,

thanks for the info. you can delete the OTViewIt from your desktop.
iexplore.exe is internet explorer. hjt log looks ok. Is a updated spybot coming up clean after a scan. your antivirus is up to date also?
we can get another download to check for malware. dosnt hurt to have 2 anti-malware apps.:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) to your desktop:

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

please post the MBAM log in reply

Thanks

I do not use Internet Explorer and when "iexplore.exe" shows up in my process list, it quickly grows anywhere from 200,000K - 600,000K before i end the process. Internet Explorer is not open then either.

My Spybot is up to date and shows no problems to fix (except for Right Media which is a "tracking cookie" that shows up from time to time and I delete it). As far as AV, I thought that Spybot was an AV program b/c of the "TeaTimer" thing. Do I need an additional program?

Here is the log (I've yet to remove these infections, please let me know if I can) Thanks:

hi,

ok good. well that seems to explain why IE was running. must be better now.

in any case if you find that IE is still running as a process on your machine then i would use the computer as little as possible. in fact pull the plug on the modem or router so you have no connectivity to the internet or your LAN if you have more than one machine.

we will get one more download to run on your machine. its called combofix.
there is a guide you can read first. looks like a lot but it really requires little on your part. It will even download and install the MS recovery console for you as you will read in the guide.

complete directions and download links are in the guide.

post the combofix log in your reply please.

I apologize for not having replied yet. I am traveling and do not have access to my home PC. Everything seems to be cleared up though, thanks to you!! I will download and follow the instructions above as soon as I get back, if you think it is still necessary.

Thanks again for your help!!
Bill P.
