Those sneaky bastards got me, and i'm not even sure how.

I saw what appeared to be a windows firewall message.... to block, allow, or later. I clicked "later" and whammo... that was it. the scam anti-virus stuff popped up.

Make sure you read and follow the directions, anything else will slow the process and waste both of our time. I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.
The junk can be tough to remove, so do not expect fast or easy.

Unless I am missing something, you have posted a HJT log that is running no antivirus program? It is a waste of my time and yours to clean a computer if you are not going to run security programs. If you don't have a plan, here are three to choose from that are free, install only one, update and scan the system. Post the scan results for me to view.

Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.

actually i am running spybot s&d along w/ malaware bytes.
I ran spybot first and it detected the smitfraud and "removed" it... then malaware actually found some other stuff as well. It removed it. After restarting and finding the malware still active i started to search the for solutions. Not sure why these didn't show up before?

actually i am running spybot s&d along w/ malaware bytes.
Neither of those is an antivirus program. I posted links to free programs. When you have one installed, post a new HJT log and I will look at it.

Uninstall list: I look for malware and security issues and will not know all of your programs, but you should.

Hackers are using out of date programs to infect folks more and more,
Here is a small free tool that lets you know when something needs an update if you are interested:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware <<< you have MBAM so there is no reason to download it again, but let's update and scan:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

1. I have run PSI and updated it. All is updated now. There were only Java updates to run and Adobe Macromedia (Flash) to update.

2. The COH FAKEMSI is now gone due to uninstalling entire game.

I Do NOT know if this is safe or not. I've never heard of this program. The file is apparently not on my computer using windows search feature (with hidden files showing, etc)

During Scan AVG caught a process and killed it. Was a system restore .exe

After Reboot to delete the Malabyte trojan (above) the fake Windows Security Pop-up is gone as is the fake spyware website that occurs on either IE or Firefox startup.

Looks like you were successful :) Any final steps, etc?

Finally... should i run SpyBot "resident" concurrent with AVG's "resident"?

Thanks for the feedback, System Restore files (even infected ones) are protected, clean those like this.

Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Reboot

Turn ON System Restore,
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Spybot S&D (on my computers) does not run and is used as and on demand scanner just like MBAM. Even they do different things. AVG is an antivirus program, here is information about AVG:
